Sonda, born in Michigan, started riding lessons at age 14. With her father in the Air Force, she traveled all over world and studied many different types of riding and approaches to teaching in the towns around where she was stationed. She has trained work horses, general up keep of horses and as barn manager.
She has also served as a trail guide for three years in a row, including as a trail guide for the YMCA. Sonda moved to San Antonio in 1997 and started lessons at Azgard Farm in January of 2000. She purchased her present horse, Janey, in June of 2000. She began teaching at Azgard in May of 2001.
Maggie was brought into contact with horses early in life and her love for them was inherited watching her parents ride. Though discouraged from riding too early by the best barn in the region, she started vaulting at the age of 9 with one of the biggest teams in Austria. Three years later she was finally allowed to start riding at a Dressage barn. She stopped actively compteting with the vaulting team at the age of 18, but she has constantly stayed in contact with the team helping them whenever she can. Maggie attained her vaulting trainers license in 2004.
Maggie came to Azgard Farm in 2001 when she finished school for being a Kindergarten teacher and spent a year in San Antonio as an Au Pair. Since then she visits at least 2 months a year until she gets a final permit to stay in the United States. When Maggie is at Azgard Farm she helps teach and also gives vaulting lessons for anyone interested. She also is the owner of the Percheron mare, Moonlight and co-owner of the Percheron-Cross stallion, Goliath.Roxanne started her horse fever at the age of 3, however, she had to wait until the ripe age of 6 to begin lessons. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, from ages 6-8 she rode and learned the seat of hunter/jumper. At age 8, she began training for vaulting, cross country jumping, stadium jumping and dressage and became the proud owner of her first horse, a black and white paint pony named "Sugar". She rode under her instructor until she turned 11 and her instructor moved to another facility. At that time, Roxanne moved into saddleseat equitation at Retama where she stayed for 2 years before moving to Randolph Brooks to continue riding. By age 15, she was training her newly purchased green-broke Arabian horse, "Shudda Byn". At age 18, Roxanne moved to Aggieland where she took classes at Texas A&M. During this time and her subsequent return to San Antonio, she took a hiatus from regular riding. In 2003, Roxanne began to train again at Azgard Farm, where she began her internship as an instructor. Since joining the Azgard barn family, she has had the pleasure of purchasing two new horses (a Quarter Horse PMU rescue colt, "Dakota" and a Saddlebred mare, "Stormy") as well as adopting half of another little filly (a Quarter Horse/Percheron PMU rescue filly, "Chocolate Kisses"). Today, Roxanne continues to intern at Azgard Farm.
